COVID-19 Policy Update

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) and is responsible for the outbreak that began in December 2019 and progressively became a global pandemic. COVID-19 has created a public health emergency and economic and operational challenges for organisations throughout New Zealand and the world. From Friday 3 December 2021 the North Canterbury Academy of Music (NCAM) will move to the government’s new traffic light framework.

The purpose of the following Policy is to establish and communicate our position regarding COVID-19 vaccination. The Policy applies to all North Canterbury Academy of Music tutors, committee members, parents, caregivers, students, volunteers, contractors and visitors.

Vaccination Policy

• NCAM operates from the facilities at the Rangiora Town Hall.   As an events facility under the COVID-19 Protection Framework, vaccination certificates are required under the traffic light framework. 
• Due to NCAM being in a high risk category for the transmission of COVID, anyone entering the Music Studios over 12 years of age at the Rangiora Town Hall in association with NCAM is required to be fully vaccinated (two doses) with an Approved COVID-19 Vaccine.
• All lessons are face-to-face but, with prior arrangement, online lessons may be offered to unvaccinated students, who are in the process of being vaccinated.
• At enrolment students will be required to upload their Vaccine Pass or attach a PDF or JPG (which must include the QR code).
• Parents/caregivers of students entering the Town Hall will need to show proof of their vaccination which will only be verified by the NZ Verifying App.

Lessons at Red

• Students over the age of 12 years and 3 months must be vaccinated and show proof of vaccination. Vaccination Passes will be checked at their first lesson and also any other visitors throughout the year will need to produce their Vaccination Passes
• A record will be kept of the Vaccination Passes that have been sighted/verified 
• All lessons can go ahead, face to face, at Red but must be socially distanced and masks must be worn at all times (except where not possible). 
• Students under the age of 12 years and 3 months are not required to be vaccinated but must be socially distanced and masks must be worn at all times (except where not possible), when attending face to face lessons.
