This policy applies to North Canterbury Academy of Music employees and volunteers, as well as anyone wishing to access NCAM facilities in the Rangiora Town Hall, including students, parents, caregivers, family and friends.
This policy has been developed to help protect our community from COVID-19. The COVID-19 Protection Framework came into effect December 2021. The NCAM Committee conducted a risk-assessment for employees. From this risk assessment our policy was carefully written. All comments and feedback was carefully considered before publishing the document.
NCAM will require all employees, contractors, students, parents, caregivers, family and friends who are over 12 years old to be vaccinated if they wish to enter the Rangiora Town Hall Studios where NCAM is based.
NCAM will accept COVID-19 Vaccination Certificates that are available through the Ministry of Health’s My COVID Record. These Vaccination Certificates will need to be verified by staff using the NZ Pass Verifier App when entering the building.
If you are in the unique situation where you have an exemption from being vaccinated against COVID-19 please contact us to discuss what could be possible.
The Vaccination Certificate will need to be uploaded as part of our enrolment applications for 2022. When we have seen your Vaccination Certificate this will be noted against your name and your Vaccination Certificate will be deleted from our records. All Vaccination Certificate information will be held in accordance with the Privacy Act and will be held in strict confidence.
If you choose not to be vaccinated against COVID-19 please understand that we cannot allow you to continue to have lessons through the North Canterbury Academy of Music. Where we can, we will help you find a new tutor who will support you on your musical journey.
Yes, NCAM requires all employees and contractors to be vaccinated against COVID-19. This allows us to operate at all levels of the COVID-19 Protection Framework and create the safest environment for both staff and students.
Our COVID-19 Policy is an important element in minimising the risks around COVID-19. Where appropriate NCAM will also implement other measures such as physical distancing, contact tracing, mask-wearing and hand sanitising.
At Green and Orange lessons will continue as normal. When at Red, masks will be required where appropriate and 1m physical distancing will need to be imposed. This will be adhered to in group lessons, individual lessons and all NCAM ensembles.
Our website will have the latest information regarding COVID-19 safety measures and our Vaccination Policy. Current students and caregivers will receive information via email. There will also be notices on our notice board at the Rangiora Town Hall Studios. COVID-19 will continue to be an evolving situation where our policy and safety measures will need to be updated based on the latest information from the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education.
