Group Lessons

Groups lessons are perfect for First-time musicians. Students will learn the basics of their instrument alongside others.

Suitable for Beginner students who are learning the basics, who would prefer to learn in a one-on-one environment. 

30-minute lessons

Suitable for Intermediate level students or those who are taking their first graded examinations. 

45-minute lessons

Suitable for Skilled students, Grade 5-8. 

60-minute lessons

Suitable for Advanced students, Grade 7 and above. 

Instrument Lesson Days

Monday: Singing, Piano & Guitar

Tuesday: Piano, Violin & Suzuki Violin

Wednesday: Rock Guitar, Clarinet, Singing & Drums

Thursday: Piano, Cello & Flute

Ensembles

Academy Orchestra

Conductor: Mark Hodgkingson

Day: Thursday

All students who have been taking lessons for a year are expected to join the Academy Orchestra. 

Cello Ensemble

Tutor: Naomi Harmer

Day: Thursday

All Cellists are encouraged to participate in the Cello ensemble. Lessons are often organised so that players can conveniently attend rehearsals.

Celtic Strings

Tutor: Jeremy Brownbrooke

Day: Thursday

The Celtic Strings is an option for all string players (but not limited to) who have been learning for one year. The Celtic style encompasses folk tunes from Ireland, Scotland and other Celtic regions. The repertoire consists of a number of lively dance tunes and is very varied.

Choir

Tutor: Jeannette McGrath

Day: Monday

All vocal students are expected to participate in the choir. Instrumental students are also invited to sing in the choir. The choir repertoire is vast, covering both traditional and modern genres including musical theatre.

Wind Ensemble

Tutor: Reina Dornan

Day: Wednesday (fortnightly)

The Wind Ensemble is compulsory for all wind players who have been learning for at least one year and who would enjoy playing in a woodwind specific group. 

Guitar Group

Tutor: David Smith


Guitar Group is an option for guitar students who would like to play in a group environment.

Music Mind Games

Tutor: TBC


An introduction to Music Theory run in Term 2 and 3 only. Free to NCAM students.

Note:

It is expected that those students who play in the smaller ensembles on offer, also play in the Academy Orchestra.
